Three groups call for calls within NPP

Three groups have advised members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to avoid mudslinging personalities that have so far been named possible running mate of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, the NPP presidential aspirant.
“Since there are various factions in the party, each hoping that their preferred candidate should be given the nod to partner the flag bearer, it would only be fair to avoid the mudslinging”, they advised.
The concerned groups, Liberal Democrats, West Legon Muslim Women Association and Nima Adwumapa Association, gave the advice at a press conference in Accra on Saturday.
Their spokesperson, Sheikh Awal Larry, said unrefined manoeuvres in the media to scuttle the chances of others was unhelpful.
“We are supporters of Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Siddique and would wish that certain utterances about him, simply because he has expressed interest in partnering Nana Addo, are avoided”, he added.
He urged those who support other persons whose names have come up as a possible running mate to express their views with decorum and always bear in mind that they all belong to one family.
Sheikh Larry said the ultimate goal of all the groups was to return the NPP to power so that Nana Akufo would be able to build on the good policies of the Kufuor Administration.
He added that although the group was of the view that Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Siddique was the best person for the running mate, they would not object to any other person.
