Ghanaians have been called upon to respect the choice of the people during the 2008 elections to maintain the peace and stability in the country.
“Ghana is the only place that we have so we must all ensure that the peace that we are enjoying today will continue before and after the elections”
The Head Pastor of the Lamb of God Ministry, Rev. Apostle J.F. Cobbinah, was speaking at the induction and farewell service for Rev. James Akyeh, the new General Secretary and Elder George Fynn, the outgoing General Secretary of the Lamb of God Ministry respectively in Accra.
He said it was the electorate who would make the choice and not the few supporters of the political parties, therefore, Ghanaians would vote for the presidential aspirant they deemed fit.
Rev Cobbinah said when the decision was taken all Ghanaians were expected to exhibit a good sense of maturity and not to embark on any action that would derail the nations progress.
“Politicians using abusive words will not help the country to achieve the peace we want before and after the elections”, he cautioned.
He said such words could cause havoc by setting the country ablaze.
Rev Cobbinah noted that it was not about insult, neither was it about supporters drawing knives to stab and kill one another.
Elections, he said, were about politicians expressing their plans for the development of the people they want to lead and not about actions that would mar a nation’s peace and tranquility.
He also said the country would experience peace before and after the elections when politicians and the people exhibited godly virtues.
“It is only prayer that can change the destiny of this nation and also ensure a peaceful election in the forthcoming December elections. Without prayer nothing can be done”, he said.
Apostle Cobbinah said the candidates should know that depending on their own understanding and neglecting God’s ways in their campaign to become president would rather lead to their failure.
He said God is the only one who can help the presidential candidates in their quest to become president of the country, and called on them to ask God for direction.
He, therefore, asked them to acknowledge the good works of God, and cautioned politicians “not to be wise in their own eyes”.
