NDC NEC pledges to deliver better Ghana agenda

The National Executive Council of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has pledged to support the Mills Administration deliver on its promise of a better Ghana.
According to the NEC, it would continuously work hand-in-hand with the government, offer constructive advises and support, explain its policies to the people and encourage Ghanaians to offer their full support to the administration.
Mr Seth Ohene, the NDC Communications Director who spoke to the Daily Graphic in Accra, said this was part of the outcomes of the NEC meeting held in Accra last week.
He said it was unfortunate that some media organisations wanted to paint the picture as if the party was at loggerheads with the government and that nothing good transpired at the meeting.
He said the party executive rededicated themselves to ensuring that the NDC delivered on its campaign message especially job creation, quality education and health delivery, respect for the ordinary Ghanaians and the fight against corruption.
“We are confident that if we deliver on our promise, show respect to the voter and not be arrogant, the Ghanian voter will not hesitate to vote us back in 2012,” Mr Ohene.
He said as a human institution, there were bound to be differences and this was amply demonstrated in an atmosphere of mutual respect, frankness and democratic manner which was not different from other meetings of the party.
Mr Ohene said the issue of slowness in the appointment and other delivery of the government, as well as other burning issues raised by some members of the party, were all thoroughly discussed and reasons offered for those perceptions.
“As a centre left party, the NDC tolerate divergent views and opinions of each member, irrespective of his or her status in the party and that such concerns are always addressed to the satisfaction of all parties involved,” he added.
He said the party had also lined up activities geared towards maintaining its grassroots support and ensure that it remained stronger and formidable.
In this wise, he said between May and July, there would be branch and polling station executive elections, followed by constituency elections between August and September, with regional polls coming on in October all in this year.
Mr Ohene said the party would organise its national delegates congress to elect national officers and added that the details of the various elections would be distributed to the various regions.
